Easter is a Christian religious holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the third day after his passion. It is the holiest days on the Christian calendar. It marks the end of the fasting of Lent.
“Passover”, the Hebrew Passover פסח “he went [over]” where “crossing” is the name of the Jewish holiday that commemorates the Exodus from Egypt. According to the Gospels, it was during the Jewish festival took place the resurrection of Jesus, so the name has been taken to designate the Christian feast. The Hebrew word is in Latin Pascha….
The form “Orthodox Easter” is used for the feast in the Orthodox Churches. For other churches, this is old and form with “s” is preferred.
